Brooks Young is the Executive Director of TNWorks, the State of Tennessee’s single source for workforce solutions. In this role, Brooks leads a coordinated statewide effort to connect business and industry with customized, data-driven workforce solutions that help companies expand, compete, and succeed in a rapidly changing economy.
Brooks oversees TNWorks’ work to align education, workforce, and economic development strategies with real-time industry needs. He leads collaboration among state agencies and partners to simplify employer access to talent, training, and workforce resources; strengthen training capacity in high-demand sectors; and improve the connection between talent pipelines and business demand.
Brooks brings more than a decade of experience in workforce, education, and economic development, with a background in public-sector strategy and operations. Before joining the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), he spent nine years with the Tennessee Board of Regents, working in academic affairs and workforce development across Tennessee’s technical college campuses and at the system office. At TDLWD, he served in the Office of Strategy, where he led enterprise-level initiatives, managed large-scale funding portfolios, and worked across agencies and industries to improve workforce system outcomes for employers and communities. Brooks received his Master of Business Administration degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.
