Randall Beaver, Training Officer and Apprenticeship Program Director, Dyersburg Fire Rescue, shares the benefits that both employers and employees have of participating in the Tennessee Youth Employment Program (TYEP), On-the-Job Training Grant Program (OJT), and a registered apprenticeship through the Tennessee State Office of Apprenticeships.
“It’s a good way for us to recruit and retain some new people for our Department. It has been instrumental in recruiting new people as well as the retention of those people after they complete our program. At the end, our people will graduate or certify at the end of this program with a nationally recognized Apprenticeship Certificate. We appreciate our partnerships with our local workforce board, as well as our state-level stakeholders in this program—as well as our local city officials who brought this program to us to begin with.”
